When I was about ten, Arc’teryx gave Edge Climbing Team some blue Sebring backpacks. We were all pretty chuffed with our new packs, and wore them everywhere.
I am really happy to be a climbing athlete with Arc’teryx. The gear is cutting-edge, and I like the down-to-earth vibe of the company. As a testament to the durability of the gear, my sister still takes the Sebring pack skiing. And, they still hook up the kids on the Edge Climbing Team with harnesses. How cool is that?
Footwear is absolutely critical. There’s no substitute for Stealth Rubber. My favorite shoes are the Anasazi Blanco for the delicate, ultra-technical terrain, and the Moccasyms for everything else.
Based out of Bend, Oregon, Metolius makes the finest rock climbing hardwear out there. I sent Brooke Sandahl, climbing pioneer and solid guy, an email when I was a no-name kid years ago. He helped me out, and I can’t thank him enough. Some of my favorite products include the Master Cams, Inferno ‘Biners, portaledges and haulbags.
Ryders is a local North Vancouver company that makes great shades. I wear sunglasses when I am driving, guiding, or trying to look cooler than I actually am in real life.
Thanks to Dan Birch and Randy Leavitt for hooking me up with these amazing cords. Supple, durable and cool-looking. What more could you ask for?
